QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES – In its third year of organizing digital motorsport events, the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) is taking charge of the Asia-Pacific DiRT Rally 2.0 Championship by AAP. A first for the Asian digital rally scene, eight motorsport sporting bodies (ASNs) will have their top drivers represent to compete in the three-round live lobby races held in April and May 2022.
The event is open to all racers from the Asia Pacific Region, who are nationals of countries under FIA Region 2, with a PC or PS4 with a full version of the DiRT Rally 2.0 video game.
Qualifying for each round is set for 4 days via the Codemasters Racenet Club platform. After qualifying, the top 21 qualifiers will then compete in a live lobby event, livestreamed via AAP’s Facebook accounts. The overall winner will be the first ever Asia-Pacific Digital Rally Champion.
The first leg will be held this Saturday, April 9, 6PM, live-streamed on the Automobile Association Philippines, AAP Motorsport, and at the Dominado E-Motorsports: Rally Facebook pages. Qualifiers start on April 5 and end on 12NN of April 9.
This event follows the AAP’s National Digital Rally Championship, whose final round had international e-rally drivers as participants. Seeing the positive response from the event, the AAP was asked by the FIA regional committee for E-Sports to spearhead such an event for the rally discipline.
Alongside the AAP, the various national sporting associations for four-wheeled motorsport (ASNs) involved are MotorSport New Zealand, Korea Automobile Racing Association (KARA), Chinese Taipei Motor Sport Association (CTMSA), Motor Sports Singapore (MSS), Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM), Motorsport Australia, Ceylon Motor Sport Club (CMSC), and Hong Kong Automobile Association (HKAA).
The event is organized by Automobile Association Philippines, the only automobile club in the Philippines who is a member of the Federation Internationale l’Automobile (FIA), and is the national sporting body for four-wheeled motorsport. The event is powered by Dominado E-Motorsports: Rally, a technology and media services provider with specialization in digital event organization in motorsport, and a partner of AAP Motorsport for the past three digital rally seasons.
